Shree KaryaSiddh is a cooperative, powered by SEWA (Self-Employed Women’s Association), that brings together waste recyclers to manage solid waste in urban areasYBy involving local communities and working with municipal corporations, we ensure proper waste segregation, recycling, and, in the long run, reducing landfills and promoting cleaner cities.
We empower waste collectors, particularly women, by providing consistent income, improving their skills, and integrating them into social security programs.
We aim to set a model that can be expanded across various city wards, enhancing environmental and social outcomes.

KaryaSiddh’s mission is to implement a zero-waste management system by organizing door-to-door waste collection at the source, focusing on waste segregation, recycling, and composting.
This initiative supports both environmental goals and the livelihood of waste recyclers by offering training, improving their working conditions, and linking them with banking, insurance, and pension schemes.

KaryaSiddh envisions creating a cleaner, more sustainable urban environment through a decentralized, community-led model of waste management that promotes environmental regeneration via Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle principles.

How does KaryaSiddh help?
FOR ENVIRONMENT
- Cleanliness Improvement: Cleaner city environment
- Waste Segregation: Collection of segregated dry and wet waste.
- Collection Responsibility: One waste recycler per 100-150 households or commercial sites.
- Tools Provided: Dustbins for wet and dry waste, handcarts, and composting equipment by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).
- Monitoring: Supervisors are assigned for every 2,000 households.
- Waste Reduction: 60-70% reduction in waste reaching dumpsites; 15-20% increase in recyclable waste.
- Carbon Emission Reduction: Environmentally friendly waste disposal.
IN SISTER LIVES
- Waste Recyclers: Training traditional women waste recyclers for source waste segregation, presentation, and communication skills.
- Employment: Livelihood for vulnerable waste recyclers and improved economic and social status of women workers.
- Decentralized Community Model: Empowers community involvement and ownership of waste management.
- Compensation: Cooperative members paid Rs. 20 per month for collection and disposal per household. Linked cooperative members to banking, insurance, and pension schemes
