The Inspiring Journey of Jyotsnaben with SEWA
Jyotsnaben, born in Rajpur, Gomtinagar. She joined SEWA in 2008. Emerging from a marginalized community, the means to lead a life of dignity eluded Jyotsnaben. She hailed from a family engaged in waste collection, scouring dumpsites alongside her mother-in-law for discarded treasures. In those times, her earnings were a modest 200-300 rupees, making it an uphill battle to meet even the most basic necessities. This trying situation took a transformative turn upon her association with SEWA.
It was Rachiben who introduced her to the possibilities within SEWA, paving the way for her enrollment. Becoming a member of SEWA opened doors to Gitanjali, where she underwent training in essential skills encompassing notepad crafting, jewelry making, and operating machinery. Her role centered on efficiently packaging bulk orders at Gitanjali, resulting in a daily remuneration of 300 rupees. The impact of SEWA on her life has been monumental, ushering in a positive shift in her livelihood. This transformation has afforded her the opportunity to enhance not only her own standard of living but also that of her children.
She says “My heart brims with gratitude towards SEWA for furnishing me with a platform to learn, grow, and progress”.
